Helping others to help themselves.
The Gunjur Project has now accepted our offer of eye surgery (see here) to be carried out with the proceeds from the subsidised sale of the WakaWaka lights in November last year. A full report will follow... Meanwhile, here are some heart-warming stories from some of the people who have received treatment so far. Big thank yous and kudos to all those who have helped achieve this! Following our poll at http://dance2learn.weebly.com/lights-reinvestment.html , results are in.
It seems the majority were in favour of the eye surgery: "Eye project. We have had several visits from opticians who have given free eye tests and donated glasses for those that required them. Some were found to need surgery for cataracts and other eye conditions. We have started a fund to pay for these people to get the operations / drugs that are required at a very good Gambian hospital. It costs approx. £40 to give this gift of sight. A report on this project as required. " We will be informing The Gunjur Project and look forward to hearing the report! :-) Here's looking at you! Dance2Learn would like to thank OrangeHost for giving us a good deal on our hosting after a recent change. We will save a considerable amount which can, instead, be used to fund projects! As a courtesy to them, here is their advert (savings to be made for anyone!) Further info on their page at http://www.orangehost.in/
